Finance police from the Provincial Command of Naples seized over 2 tons of contraband cigarettes and reported a repeat offender.
The operation was conducted by the financial police of the Nola Group who last Tuesday noticed a van driven by a man already known to the same Fiamme Gialle for previous episodes of smuggling. After a brief tailing, the financial police stopped the vehicle, catching the man red-handed, caught with over 200 kg of cigarettes.
During the search, the military found a bunch of keys with a remote control, from which the finance police identified, in the Poggioreale district of Naples, a box in an underground garage where numerous cases of cigarettes were stored.

A total of 2.240 kg of contraband cigarettes of various brands were recovered and seized. The man, arrested and tried with a summary trial, was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison and a fine of 7.466.00 euros.
