Napoli, the City Council launches Christmas plan: the actions planned for city mobility during the holidays
The city council of Naples has approved the city mobility plan for the Christmas holidays, which will be in effect from November 5 to January 8, 2023. The provision (attached) provides, in addition to the ZTL of the Historic Center, for which the transit ban for tourist buses will be in force in the city center area, the activation of Taxi Sharing between the Brin parking lot - Piazza Municipio - Piazza Plebiscito and vice versa.
The public transport line will also be strengthened to support the bus parking areas of the Eastern Area. Finally, the activities aimed at deterring illegal parking, managing the main intersections and controlling tourist buses will be significantly strengthened. In addition to the Municipal Police, the ANM personnel with the qualification of Traffic Auxiliaries will also be involved in this activity.
“Naples is going through an extraordinary moment in terms of tourist presence – observed the municipal councilor for Tourism Teresa Armato – we have reservations and full hotels all year round but, as per tradition, Christmas is the time when the peak is reached and this requires an adequate effort also in terms of mobility. For this reason we have prepared a plan of combined actions that will ease traffic in the center but also strengthen public transport and controls”.
“The expected large influx of tourists is excellent news for Naples, but mobility will be put to the test – declared the councilor for Mobility Edoardo Cosenza – It will be very important to respect the parking areas for tourist buses, giving priority to the North Area near the Scampia station and the West Area, in Fuorigrotta, near Line 2 and Cumana, with a discount”.
“The Local Police will be heavily involved – stated the Councillor for Legality Antonio De Iesu – in particular for the control of traffic and legality in the areas with the greatest tourist presence. We will try to reduce the inconvenience to the citizens of Naples as much as possible and to give a peaceful holiday to all tourists”.
