Naples, Manfredi attacks De Magistris: 'Me a liar? Facts for all to see'. The mayor of Naples defends the work done so far by his administration
“Am I a liar? I am just stating the facts: it does not seem to me that any hiring has been done or any projects presented for the PNRR. What we have done is clear for all to see, I do not have to discuss these issues, we simply have to work and do things”.
This is the response of the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, who, on the sidelines of an event organized by UniCredit at the Teatro San Carlo, responded in this way to the former mayor Luigi de Magistris who, in a note released this morning, had defined the first year at Palazzo San Giacomo of the former rector of the Federico II University as a “disaster”: “Manfredi is proving himself to be more and more of a liar, today to justify his nothingness he says that he found a municipality without staff and without projects for the PNRR” de Magistris had affirmed in his attack.
“The PNRR projects and their implementation are important to create growth opportunities and to improve services in the South and the commitment of large companies is also very important for our city and for what needs to be achieved in the South”.
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, also said, and recalled that most of the PNRR projects focus on infrastructure and therefore “they require long implementation times. The completion times of the PNRR projects have a horizon of 2026 and therefore it is clear that these interventions will bring benefits and repercussions on the territory in the medium term”.
The mayor, however, highlighted that projects related, for example, to the construction of nursery schools have “shorter timescales”.
