Yesterday was a busy evening for the officers of the General Prevention Office, who during their territorial control service, while passing through via Duca di San Donato, noticed some people who had surrounded a man, indicating him as the perpetrator of a theft to the detriment of a boy.
The police were approached by the young man who said that, shortly before, while he was walking along Corso Umberto I, he had been approached by a man who had snatched the phone from his hands and then fled until, with no small difficulty, he was stopped by some passers-by.
The operators stopped the man, identifying him as a 22-year-old Moroccan with a police record and an illegal resident on the national territory, and arrested him for theft by snatching and reported him for illegal entry and residence in the territory of the State, while the cell phone was returned to its owner.
The police intervention was providential because the crowd that had blocked the man had decided to take justice into their own hands and the young Moroccan would certainly have had problems defending himself.
