Ribbon cutting today for new school buildings at Musto and Fedro
“The completion of the works on these two buildings had been blocked for years – said the mayor, Gaetano Manfredi – and when Mia Filippone took office one of her first acts was to come here and start all the procedures that in a year allowed us to open and today we are inaugurating the two school buildings in her memory, testifying that when there is institutional collaboration, clear ideas and you work in the interest of the citizens, with many facts and without words, you get results. We try to be a Council of facts and avoid that things that have been dragging on for years always remain like this".
The commemorative plaque in memory of Filippone was placed in the Fedro municipal complex. The work was possible thanks to the use of municipal, regional and national resources recovered by the municipal administration to put an end to a matter, that of the two complexes, which had been at a standstill for years.
“The Municipality has done an extraordinary job together with the Municipality to provide spaces that are adequate for our children – stated the regional councillor for Education, Lucia Fortini – it is right to consider strategic spaces with respect to the contract on school dropout because there is no doubt that when a child, a boy is in a nice school he will be led to be passionate about the subjects too”.
On the occasion of the inauguration, an olive tree, symbol of peace, was also planted, made available by the Gazebo verde association. The works were carried out – as underlined by the municipal councilor for Education, Maura Striano – by the personnel of the Municipality's Technical Service and their conclusion with the consequent opening of the schools “it represents a response to the needs and requirements of children who were previously placed in spaces unsuitable for activities, this school instead is designed for them and demonstrates the institutions' commitment to the community”.
Also at the ribbon cutting was the president of the V Municipality, Clementina Cozzolino, who spoke of “an extraordinary result that has put an end to a problem that had been going on for over 30 years”.
