The Infrastructure Committee of the City Council of Napoli, chaired by Nino Simeone, met, together with the councilor for Mobility Edoardo Cosenza, the taxi drivers' unions to take stock of the situation of non-scheduled public transport in the city.
The union representatives asked for greater listening by the administration and denounced a series of problems: the state of abandonment and neglect of parking spaces in the city, especially in the ports, airports and stations; the lack of controls for illegal and NCC; the unsustainability, with the increase in costs, of the current tariff and the anachronistic shifts.
Furthermore, the difficulties caused by the indiscriminate use of street control that makes it difficult to regularly exercise the service without incurring sanctions. Among the requests, a greater listening of the category by the city administration, an intervention on shifts and tariffs, the suspension of predetermined trips, the maintenance of ramps and parking lots, with particular reference to the health and hygiene protection of workers, the restoration of the ZTL of Piazza Dante and the activation of video surveillance for the preferential lanes.
The councilor for Mobility, Edoardo Cosenza, recalled the dialogue already started by the administration with taxi drivers on specific points, announcing imminent responses. On the specific aspects regarding the access ports to the city, the authorities - Fs, Gesac and Port Authority - competent on the ports will also be involved, announcing their agreement to review the tariffs.
On the ZTL Dante, he recalled the opinion against its reinstatement expressed by the same commission and by the Municipalities involved and announced that this year, in view of the extraordinary tourist influx expected for the next few months, the measures of the Christmas traffic plan will be active starting from November. Finally, on the subject of controls, with the introduction of new municipal police officers from the competition, work will be done on the composition of fixed tourist police units stationed in the city ports.
