Pizzeria Brandi, a historic restaurant on Salita Sant'Anna di Palazzo that opened in 1760 and boasts being the place where the Margherita pizza, the most popular version of the traditional Neapolitan dish, was invented in 1889, is reopening in Naples.
The pizzeria was closed on October 20th following an inspection by the Prevention Department of the ASL Napoli 1 Center together with the Carabinieri of the NAS, from which, the ASL had reported, "hygienic-sanitary deficiencies" had emerged.
Yesterday the pizzeria announced its reopening with a post published on Facebook addressed to "our loyal customers" which reads: “After three full working days that saw us busy with the modernization of the electrical and water systems, we inform you that Pizzeria Brandi has reopened to the public. You will understand, therefore, that some of the news reported in various newspapers were specious and the result of a lack of in-depth analysis of the issues in question. In other words, real nonsense”.
"We are certain, therefore, that you will understand our discomfort dictated by the impossibility of counteracting the negative media effect triggered by unfounded news and contrary to the investigations carried out by the competent authorities, to whom we must address, in any case, our cordial appreciation for the competence and seriousness carried out during the investigations themselves. We await you with renewed enthusiasm and with the affection that has always distinguished the work of the Brandi Pizzeria", concludes the post.
