As part of the 2022 enhancement projects, the Royal Palace of Naples is organizing the initiative “A King's Saturday” on Saturday 29 October and exceptionally also on Monday 31 October, on the occasion of Halloween night, with extraordinary evening opening from 20pm to 23pm (last admission at 22pm) at a cost of 2 euros.
Only on the evening of Saturday 29th will a performance project conceived by the artist Mauro Maurizio Palumbo be performed in the Salone d'Ercole of the Appartamento Storico, entitled “Don Chi? Tra mulini a vento e castelli in aria” (Don Who? Between windmills and castles in the air), a performance freely inspired by the famous novel by Miguel de Cervantes Don Quixote de la Mancha, created site-specific for the Royal Palace, which is currently hosting a temporary exhibition focused on a series of eighteenth-century tapestries in which the stories of Don Quixote are narrated.
The performance will be offered free of charge to all evening visitors in two performances, at 20,30:22,00 pm and 20:XNUMX pm, with various actions including dance, singing and narration that will be divided into three moments for a total duration of approximately XNUMX minutes for each performance.
An updated reinterpretation that also includes brief interactions with the audience. Seven are the protagonists of Palumbo's show who will encourage the audience to discover which of them is the real contemporary Don Quixote. The performance focuses on the concept of prejudice and, based on the numerical symbolism of seven, touches on some major social themes such as environmental protection, scientific research, gender diversity, multiculturalism, information, inclusion and the precariousness of life.
