A Ponticelli, quartiere nella zona orientale di Napoli, l’istituto comprensivo 70 Marino-Santa Rosa versa nel degrado più assoluto dove sono precarie le condizioni igienico-sanitarie.
The situation of Campania's schools is certainly not the rosiest. It ranges from nursery schools with unkempt greenery and destroyed and unusable children's carousels to high schools without heating, from elementary schools where there is no teaching material of any kind to middle schools where dilapidation reigns. The reality of the suburbs is especially dramatic.
In fact, several parents have raised the alarm by addressing the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
“In this school my 7-year-old daughter and other children between the ages of 5 and 10 have to face a new school year in the most absolute degradation: dilapidated and unusable bathrooms; classrooms full of mosquitoes due to the lack of pruning of plants that reach the classrooms.” - is the story of one of the whistleblowers.
"We have sent a note to the school management, the competent ASL and the municipal offices to have a clearer picture of this elementary school. If maintenance and adjustments have not been planned, they must be done as soon as possible", says Borrelli.
"Given the school emergency that is especially affecting our territory, it is necessary to activate a plan to allow children and young people to carry out educational activities in complete safety and efficiency, especially after two years of covid emergency that have deprived schoolchildren of sociality, direct relationships with teachers and full-time study. In territories where the level of school dropout is high, study and training should be encouraged by providing young people with adequate facilities".
