As part of a surveillance and control activity to protect the marine ecosystem and fish supply chains, personnel from the Torre del Greco Coast Guard and the Local Maritime Office of Portici, under the coordination of the Maritime Directorate of Campania, intercepted an illegal landing of three specimens of red tuna on the beach near a lido in Portici.

Without a traceability document, they were found to be the result of an illegal non-professional fishing trip. Bluefin tuna is a species subject to a particular international regime of protection and conservation, whose rules concern both professional and recreational fishermen. The military imposed an administrative fine of over two thousand euros on the offender.
