The action promoted by the Codici association to protect passengers Volotea continues and records an important victory that could pave the way for many other similar cases. The reference is to the incorrect behavior adopted by the company during the pandemic, which earned it two fines from the Competition and Market Authority for a total of almost 2 million euros.
"The problem concerns flights canceled after June 3, 2020 - explains Ivano Giacomelli, National Secretary of Codici -, that is, when the travel restrictions, introduced to combat the spread of Covid, had ceased. As confirmed by the Antitrust, Volotea was the protagonist of unfair and aggressive commercial practices. For one of the cases we are following, we managed to obtain a refund for the passenger. We hope that the company will take note of the situation and do the same for the other damaged consumers".
The unfair commercial practices contested by the Authority concern the ambiguous and insufficient information provided on the causes of flight cancellation, after-sales assistance.
In the case followed by Codici, the passenger had purchased a return ticket from Naples to Verona in 2020. The flight was canceled, the company initially offered the voucher and only after the intervention of the association did it finally recognize the refund.
An important victory, which gives strength to the action promoted by Codici, which continues to this day. Volotea passengers who have seen their flight cancelled but have not been able to obtain a refund can contact the association by calling 06.55.71.996 or by writing to the address segreteria.sportello@codici.org.
