Sant'Anastasia, betrayed by GPS: 2 stolen car receivers arrested. The two were caught dismantling a recently stolen Jeep Compass in a shed
The GPS signal located the car in Via Archi Augustei, in the city of Sant'Anastasia.
It had been stolen the same day in a town in the Neapolitan hinterland. The Carabinieri of the local station took the report and surprised two people in a shed dismantling a Jeep Compass.
Around them were body parts from various vehicles and lots of tools. A small workshop where stolen cars were cannibalized to sell spare parts.
Mario and Giuseppe Maione, 34 years old the first, 47 the second, ended up in handcuffs for money laundering. Both already known to the police, they were placed under house arrest pending the validation hearing. The vehicle will be returned to its rightful owner. Investigations continue to trace the origin of the other pieces found.
