Scafati, Quartucci betrays and saves Salvati. The tough position of Insieme per Scafati, signed by the three councilors Russo, Ambrunzo and Grimaldi, echoed in the note of the Democratic Party secretary Fontanella.
“The Salvati administration approves a failed budget in extremis: thanks to an operation of crude transformism and saved by one vote, by a city councilor who betrayed the vote and the trust of those who had placed him in opposition.
A Counselor (Filippo Quartucci, editor's note), among other things, who was not even among the elected and had taken over the council a few weeks before and only following the premature death of his colleague Alfonso Carotenuto. It was precisely from Alfonso that we received a final immense and moving lesson in dignity and coherence, when already suffering he came to the chamber to vote no confidence in the Mayor.

Our group Insieme per Scafati in these three years and more of council has always been firm, decisive and consistent in its opposition function: we have never remained silent on anything, we have never compromised, we have always denounced - inside and outside the chamber - in all venues what went against the interests of the city.
Never silent on all the issues and all the wicked choices of this administration, which has produced nothing concrete and which has distinguished itself only for the many changes of side and seat, changes that are being talked about even in these hours as a counterpart to the vote on the budget. We will continue for this, for the good of the city, on the path of tough opposition to Salvati, a path on which – to be clear – we do not accept lessons from anyone.”
The Democratic Party secretary echoes the councilors Russo, Ambrunzo and Grimaldi Giuseppe Fontanella which defines the budget "ruinous and harmful for the city", as it is full of contradictions and wrong choices. According to the secretary, the budget was “furthermore, carried out without guaranteeing any participation process for the Scafatese community.”
For Fontanella, what was implemented by councilor Quartucci, who replaced the late Alfonso Carotenuto, was yet another transformation operation. “decisive for the approval of the budget and, therefore, for the permanence of the administration led by Salvati.”
“A sensationally wrong choice that must be condemned in a harsh and peremptory manner.”, sI read in the note.
“Because it betrays the electoral mandate and seriously offends the memory of Alfonso Carotenuto.
Because it mortifies the city, held hostage by the mayor with his lies for the sole purpose of ensuring its survival.
Because it prolongs – at least until the next dispute within the majority – the agony represented by the Salvati government which, as we have been saying for some time inside and outside the council chamber, no longer has any useful horizon for Scafati and its citizens.”
