Sorrento meets Dubrovnik, between music, tourism and culture: two days dedicated to the ties between the two cities, in view of the twinning agreement that will be signed next February in the Croatian city.
On October 6 and 7, a delegation from the renowned Adriatic resort, led by the president of the city council, Marko Potrebuca, representing the mayor, Mato Francović, will be welcomed in Sorrento by the mayor Massimo Coppola, the president of the city council of Sorrento, Luigi Di Prisco and the councilor for International Relations, Elvira De Angelis.
Since 2006, the two cities have been weaving cultural relations, in the name of music, thanks to the “Sorrento Classica” festival, organized by the Società Concerti Sorrento, directed by Paolo Scibilia. The last official visit in chronological order was a year ago, on the occasion of the closing of the Dubrovnik Festival. On that occasion, the then Councilor for International Relations, Alfonso Iaccarino, and the city councilor Paolo Pane, delivered a plaque celebrating the partnership between the City of Sorrento and the Società Concerti Sorrento with the City of Dubrovnik.
Specifically, on October 6, in the council chamber of the Town Hall, after a welcoming ceremony, the negotiating table will be opened, which is a prelude to the twinning agreement between the two cities.
Friday, October 7 will instead be dedicated to the encounter with art, music, culture, tourism and gastronomy of the Croatian town. Among the events, the concert “Wind Quintet & Piano”, open to the public, scheduled for 18 pm in the Basilica of Sant'Antonino, will see the musicians of the Dso, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, with music by Bach, Mozart, Kalinski and Kapp.
