For the stabbing of a 15-year-old in a high school in Miano, on the northern outskirts of Napoli, a peer was stopped and admitted his responsibilities.
His position is still being examined by investigators. The injured young man was transferred to the intensive care unit of the hospital Cardarelli of Naples, is not in danger of life. The CT scan he underwent did not reveal any lesions to vital organs. The boy has a wound to the arm and one to the chest.
“If it is true that school is the engine of the country, in Campania that engine is still clogged. We all know the dramatic data on education in our Region but today the stabbing of the 15-year-old in a suburb of Naples while he was at school - and which comes a few months after another similar episode - is a point of no return”.
This is stated in a note Severino Nappi, leader of the League group in the Campania Regional Council and member of the Education Commission of the regional council, referring to the stabbing that took place in Miano. “This is,” says Nappi, “a very serious matter for which local institutions should assume their responsibilities.
Because the real issue here, in addition to the lack of security, is the recovery of inequalities, school dropouts, educational poverty, all elements that negatively mark the growth path of our children, and on which in these years those who govern the Region have never done anything. At this moment, it seems clear that everything is useful except enlisting students who are made to miss a day of school to sacrifice them on the altar of politics and opportunism and make them participate in an empty demonstration of peace".
