A corpse in an advanced state of decomposition was found in Torre Annunziata in via Rampe Nunziante, inside the abandoned building whose partial collapse caused the death of eight people five years ago in July.
The discovery was made yesterday afternoon by the agents of the local police station, who are now investigating together with the Oplontina Prosecutor's Office to try to trace the identity of the victim and the reasons for his death which, according to the state of the body, date back to a few months ago.
An autopsy will most likely be ordered on the remains. At the moment, investigators are not committing themselves, although they are leaning towards the theory that it could be a homeless person who found shelter in the remaining part of the building, completely vacated after the collapse in 2017, who could have been struck down by illness or a drug overdose.
