Last appointment with the 'Cultural Gym': Friday 7 October 'Pompei for Ukraine'. The program is curated by Nikita Kadan
On Friday 7 October 2022, the North Portico of the Palestra Grande degli Scavi di Pompei will host – starting at 19,00:XNUMX pm – the last event of the “Palestra Culturale”, a series of events planned and financed by the Campania Region as part of Campania by Night, produced and promoted by Scabec, a regional company for the promotion of cultural heritage.
The closing of the cycle of events is entrusted to “Pompei for Ukraine. A letter from the front”, a review of film works and moving images by contemporary artists from Ukraine, originally commissioned and produced by Castello di Rivoli after the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The event takes place in collaboration with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, as part of the Pompeii Commitment project.
The program is curated by Nikita Kadan, born in 1982 and living and working in Kiev, with Giulia Colletti, curator of digital and public projects at Castello di Rivoli. The event will also have a temporary digital program – on the websites pompeiicommitment.org and pompeiisites.org
Nikita Kadan works with painting, graphics and installation, often in interdisciplinary collaboration with architects, sociologists and human rights activists. He is a member of the art group REP (Revolutionary Experimental Space) and a founding member of Hudrada (Art Committee), a curatorial and activist collective. Nikita Kadan represented Ukraine at the Venice Biennale in 2015.
Giulia Colletti: 28 years old, graduated in Art History in Venice, she has worked for institutions such as La Biennale di Venezia, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and CCA: Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow. In 2015, as curatorial assistant to Barnabás Bencsik, director of the Ludwig Múzeum Budapest, she took part in the realization of the first edition of OFF-Biennale.
Colletti is also responsible for the public programs and the digital sphere of the Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, where she currently coordinates the virtual site Digital Cosmos. She was recently appointed to the curatorial council of the XIX Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean.
At the end of the meeting it will be possible to take a guided tour of the exhibition “Art and sensuality in the houses of Pompeii”, curated by the Director Gabriel Zuchtriegel and by the archaeologist Maria Luisa Catoni and set up inside the Palestra Grande path and, professor at the IMT Alti Studi Lucca.
