During the meeting, the work carried out on the two sections into which the exhibition is divided will be explored in depth: on the one hand, the conservation interventions that the Restoration School of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples has been carrying out since 2015 with a highly educational and scientific project on sixteen “gilded and mixed” wooden doors owned by the Deputation; on the other, the restoration of the festive and weekday altar hangings, carried out by ARTES, which involved part of the vast liturgical collection of the Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro. Ordinarily, metal alloy candlesticks and crosses were placed on the altars, and only on the most important holidays (Christmas, Easter and the three anniversaries in which the blood of San Gennaro is liquefied) were the altars set up with silver hangings.

The exhibition “Tesori Mai Visti” at the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro can be visited until January 31, 2023.
