The autopsy on the body of has been set for Saturday 28 January Angela Brandi, the 24-year-old who died last January 24 in the Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital in Pozzuoli, a few hours after being visited and discharged from the emergency room of the same facility.
According to what has been learned, the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office (deputy prosecutor Giuseppe Tittaferrante) has entered some of the hospital's health workers in the register of suspects, who will be able to protect themselves and appoint consultants in view of the autopsy investigations.
"The autopsy will be held in the next few days," says Tommaso Pellegrino, the lawyer for Angela Brandi's family, "referring to the consultants of the Prosecutor's Office and the consultants of the injured parties to reconstruct the facts, as they occurred, with respect to a story that certainly presents aspects that need to be clarified. We reserve the communication of the findings until the outcome of the autopsy operations."
Attorney Pellegrino also announced that consultants will be appointed to assist in the autopsy. In the past few hours, the Carabinieri of Pozzuoli have interviewed health workers from Santa Maria delle Grazie, the victim's family and other witnesses to reconstruct the facts in detail.
The young woman's medical records have already been acquired and made available to investigators. Yesterday, the hospital's general management gave its version of what happened: the young woman, who arrived at the emergency room in the afternoon, had been examined and discharged by an ENT specialist who had found that she had nosebleeds caused by a varicose vein.
After a few hours, the patient felt ill and was taken back to the emergency room, where she suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.
