The entrepreneur Alfredo Romeo has been acquitted in the Rome proceedings on the Fm4 tender CONSIP.
Romeo, along with the other 11 defendants, was fully acquitted because "the fact does not exist." At the heart of the case is the FM4 tender, for facility management, or services for the public administration, worth €2,7 billion. The tender was issued by the central purchasing body of the public administration in 2014 and divided into 18 lots, some of which Romeo was aiming to win.
The entrepreneur took part in the tender for the 143 million euro lot for the assignment of services in a series of institutional buildings in Rome, ranging from cleaning to office maintenance. He was accused of bid-rigging.
“The accusatory approach that had unfoundedly charged the lawyer Romeo with the crime of bid-rigging is denied in this trial as well, despite the absence of any evidence whatsoever – Romeo's defenders, lawyers Alfredo Sorge and Giandomenico Caiazza, affirm – and the correctness of the actions of the Romeo Gestioni company in the Fm4 tender is confirmed once again, as already established in other trials”.
