“We will oppose with all possible initiatives the unfortunate decision to close the two plants in Brindisi and downsize those in Somma Vesuviana and Paolisi (Benevento), announced by DEMA representatives in the meeting held yesterday at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy.
For Fim Fiom Uilm it is intolerable that, after years of failed management by managers appointed by the investment fund, the price is paid by the workers, despite the use of public funding.
It is unacceptable that in areas of southern Italy, already heavily impacted by industrial and social crises, 300 jobs out of 600 currently affected by the dispute could be lost.
We call upon Mediobanca-Bybrook, which controls the aeronautical group, to take responsibility by reviewing the decision taken. We invite the regional institutions of Puglia and Campania to intervene jointly with MIMIT on the investor, so that the discussion at the ministerial table with the trade unions and the institutions can resume on a relaunch and development plan, also in light of a recovering market scenario and the industrial potential of DEMA.
Our country system cannot afford to lose a further industrial heritage, a manufacturing excellence with high technological content”.
