Santa Maria Capua Vetere. “We are satisfied with the results of the project that we have done together with the president of the Association Mamme Coraggio e Vittime della Strada ODV and the Committee for the Cemetery of Aversa.
The project aimed to help the poor in the area through the generosity of the inmates of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, our associations, the Committee for the Aversa Cemetery and Caritas”.
Thus Alberto Pallotti and Biagio Ciaramella, respectively president and vice president of the AUFVS, Associazione Unitaria Relatives and Victims of the Road ODV, which brings together the Association of Courageous Mothers and Victims of the Road ODV and the Italian Association of Relatives and Victims of the Road ODV. Both, together with Elena Ronzullo, president of the Association of Courageous Mothers and Victims of the Road ODV, and Nicola Nardi, spokesperson for the Committee for the rebirth of the Aversa Cemetery, have committed themselves to creating a project to help the most needy.
"The project was born from a social commitment that arose following the tragic events that affected the Ciaramella and Nardi families. Our Associations and the Committee decided to help the poor thanks to donations from prisoners, which will be distributed to the less fortunate through Caritas", says Biagio Ciaramella.
And then he adds: "We will make other donations during the year, while continuing our fight for the victims of the roads and their families. Our commitment will be directed to avoid other road tragedies and to help the poorest with the support of prisoners and the Caritas of Aversa".
It was the Association Mamme Coraggio e Vittime Della Strada ODV and the Committee for the rebirth of the Aversa Cemetery that asked the management of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison to collaborate to help the needy through the Caritas of Aversa. A first donation was made on March 8 of last year, now others will be scheduled.
The ODV, the Association of Family Members and Victims of the Road, gave its support and the project started, receiving the approval of the Institutions.
"The inmates gave up part of their food to donate it to the needy. On the occasion of the Epiphany holiday, their gift was ideally given to Luigi Ciaramella and Elisabetta Nardi, the first who died very young in a car accident, the second, instead, was a victim of medical malpractice", declared Ronzullo and Nardi.
“Luigi and Elisabetta were thus able to help the poor. We will continue with this awareness campaign, we will continue to deal with social problems. What we can no longer do for our children, we will do by taking action in the territory, staying close to those who need support. We dedicate our actions to the people who are no longer among us, because a cruel fate has taken them away from family affection”.
The Associazione Unitaria Familiari e Vittime della Strada ODV thanks the inmates and all the people who made the implementation of the project possible, underlining the generous gesture made by the inmates through their sacrifices.
“We believe that the donation made to the poor is of great importance,” Pallotti and Ciaramella continue, “it is an action of great significance that requires some clarifications: we do not want those who are innocent or have committed small crimes to be deprived of their personal freedom. Those who have committed serious crimes and especially those who kill on the road should go to prison. We want fair punishments for everyone.”
The bishop of Aversa, Monsignor Angelo Spinillo, thanked and appreciated the gesture of brotherhood and solidarity of the Association Mamme Coraggio e Vittime Della Strada ODV and the Committee for the rebirth of the Cemetery of Aversa, he thanked Father Clemente, chaplain of the penitentiary institute of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the director Rotundo and the commander of the institute who collaborated and allowed the inmates of the various departments to donate food.
These, in different ways, but with the same intensity, have given shape to the collection of basic necessities for the families who knock on the door of the Diocesan Caritas of Aversa. The bishop has assured his closeness through the gift of prayer and blesses everyone at the beginning of this new year.
