Frost is coming, in Campania. And so, in order to prevent the freezing of meters located outside homes, Gori, the manager of the integrated water service of the Sarnese-Vesuvian District Area comprising 76 municipalities, distributed between the provinces of Naples and Salerno, suggests some simple measures.
In the presence of low temperatures, it is advisable, in fact, to "protect meters located outside buildings with insulating material", as stated in a note. Furthermore, if temperatures drop below zero, "it is advisable to let a trickle of water flow from a tap in the home during the night, taking care to collect it in a container: in this way, the water does not remain without flow inside the pipes, which could freeze and therefore damage the system itself".
For homes or rooms that are not used in the winter (especially in piedmont municipalities) it is preferable to close the water flow cut-off valve (stop key) located near the meter, empty the private plumbing system of any water present through the taps and protect the meter with insulating materials.
Please remember that for any reports of faults or water service disruptions, the toll-free number 800-218270 is available, active 24 hours a day. On the website www.goriacqua.com and on the Youtube channel “GORI spa”, there is a video tutorial, also distributed through the company’s social channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, which illustrates how to implement the advice.
