Structural and hygienic-sanitary deficiencies, just under 70 dogs seized – seven of which had bilateral conchectomy (ear cropping) and caudectomy (tail docking) – and 4 reported, including the health director of a facility where the animals had undergone surgery in the absence of specific therapeutic indications.
This is the result of a series of checks carried out by the NAS Napoli, coordinated by commander Alessandro Cisternino, carried out between the capital and the hinterland as part of a vast operation to control kennels and catteries at a national level during which 876 structures were checked, 26 of which were seized with 871 dogs.
Sixteen dogs of various breeds – Labrador, Chihuahua, Poodle, Pomeranian Spitz – were seized after being found abandoned in a kennel in the province of Naples where serious hygienic-structural deficiencies were also detected.
The owner, who was reported, was also charged with failing to follow the procedure for activating the breeding farm and failing to register the animals with a microchip. The total value of the violations amounts to 8 thousand euros.
A kennel with 49 dogs without authorization and built with materials unsuitable for the nature of the animals was identified and seized on private land in the province of Naples; waste materials from demolition works were also found.
The two owners of the land and the manager of the kennel have been reported. The Nas of Naples, in another private kennel, managed by an association based in the province, seized 7 dogs because they had been subjected to ear and tail cropping. The health director was reported and was also accused of irregularities regarding vaccination prophylaxis and given prescriptions for management irregularities.
