Over 70 pleasure boats have been removed from the beach San Giovanni a Teduccio, in the eastern part of Naples.
On 13 and 20 January, the Port Authority and the Carabinieri carried out maritime and state police operations on the beach of San Giovanni a Teduccio, including on the stretches that fall within the Sin (reclamation sites of national interest) of “NAPOLI Orientale”, noting the presence of several piles of waste consisting of plastic, tyres, wrecks of small wooden and fibreglass units.
There were also more than 70 pleasure boats illegally occupying large stretches of beach, all in an area where any activity is prohibited by an order of the Port System Authority of Naples for reasons related to environmental protection.
The owners of the vessels were identified, fined and warned to remove them, which was ordered and carried out promptly. Following the investigations carried out, those responsible for the waste dumping were also identified, all reported to the judicial authorities for violation of the rules governing their management and disposal.
