Procida Capitale italiana della Cultura 2022: il 15 gennaio l’final event.
The year as Italian Capital of Culture is coming to an end with a large square event before the symbolic changeover with Bergamo and Brescia. An extraordinarily intense year, crossed by 45 projects in the name of a claim that has gone viral, “Culture does not isolate”, and accompanied by a constant flow of people, more “temporary citizens” than “tourists”.
Procida bids farewell to 2022, its historic year as Italian Capital of Culture, with the awareness of having fulfilled a prophecy, transforming a small village, an island at that, into the nerve center of national and international relations aimed at enhancing the co-creation and valorization of the material and immaterial heritage of the island.
After the postponement ordered in compliance with the tragedy that, last November 26, struck nearby Ischia, the last two events of Procida 2023 are scheduled for January 2022: Sunday 15 January, in the afternoon, the final event is scheduled, a large street party in the name of music and eco-sustainability.
“2022 has given the island significant notoriety and among the legacies we are proud of is certainly the regeneration of Palazzo d'Avalos, formerly a prison, now a point of reference for cultural activities on the island”, underlines the mayor of Procida, Dino Ambrosino.
“A complex and extraordinary year comes to an end, in which we have fully implemented our cultural program, experimenting with practices that today are making people talk about a real Procida model, thanks to which culture generates social and economic development”, says the director of Procida 2022, Agostino Riitano.
Procida 2022 is a project of the Municipality of Procida, supported by the MiC and the Campania Region with funds from the POC Campania 2014-2020. Main sponsor is Voiello; gold partner Anm, Asl Napoli 2 Nord, Caremar, Eav, Snav and Trenitalia; bronze partner Coldiretti Campania and Marina di PROCIDA. Media partner is Rai.
