Three men were arrested on charges of robbery and kidnapping for the purpose of extortion against four people, lured by the use of sexually explicit ads on online dating platforms. The Police - Teramo Police Headquarters and the Department of the Postal and Telecommunications Police - executed the order of precautionary custody in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of L'Aquila.
The investigation, initially coordinated by the Teramo Prosecutor's Office and then by the DDA of L'Aquila, conducted by the Flying Squad and the Postal Police Section of Teramo, arose from the complaints filed by the victims. During the investigations it emerged that two citizens of Nigerian origin are in Italy after having obtained political asylum, the third for international protection.
Using " Grindr ," a dating app aimed at gay and bisexual men, the three men used fake usernames to solicit free sex. The agreements stipulated that only one person would be present at the meeting. In reality, however, at a home on the outskirts of Teramo, several of them showed up aggressively, terrorizing and, in some cases, physically assaulting the victim in question, in order to obtain sums of money between €100 and €400.
The investigations allowed the judicial authority to issue the precautionary measure of detention in prison for the three deemed responsible, in complicity with each other, for the crimes of robbery, kidnapping for the purpose of extortion and personal injury. The suspects, two found in the Teramo area and one in Milan, were locked up in penal institutions in the two cities
