Day of attacks in the Caserta prisons of Carinola and Santa Maria Capua Vetere: a Santa Maria Capua Vetere an inmate, already known for his repeated hostile attitudes towards the prison police, went into a rage over trivial reasons and punched an officer in the face. The policeman was rescued and taken to the hospital.
Another prison, but the same story, this time in Carinola: here too, a prison officer was punched in the face. "Enough attacks on prison officers," said Ciro Auricchio and Giuseppe Moretti, regional secretary and president of the USPP, who said the incident "demonstrates the urgent need to increase penalties for assaults on prison officers."
The two union representatives also call for "a law that repeals legal benefits for prisoners who commit assaults. Our union extends its deepest solidarity and support to those colleagues who were attacked."
