"Enough attacks on prison officers," said Ciro Auricchio and Giuseppe Moretti, regional secretary and president of the USPP, who said the incident "demonstrates the urgent need to increase penalties for assaults on prison officers."
The two union representatives also call for "a law that repeals legal benefits for prisoners who commit assaults. Our union extends its deepest solidarity and support to those colleagues who were attacked."
