An ambitious idea. To revive the experience of Angelo Vassallo in an independent feature film. A project from scratch, born spontaneously from the network developed by the Vassallo Foundation in Italy, with the collaboration and illustrious synergy of ANCI and the mayors of Italy.
While, in fact, the shooting of the docu-film intended to be filmed in schools, “La Verità Degata”, continues, which attempts to recompose the complex mosaic of this anomalous story, without the presumption of placing the last piece, from which the cinematographic work is freely drawn, at the same time the need arises to amplify the story of the fisherman Mayor, using the contemporary narrative languages of cinema and television series.
From the meeting held in Florence on February 12th, the promotional committee for the Film was developed, at the instigation of Mauro Bardaglia, a friend of the Foundation, which met the synergy of the national ANCI.

Therefore, as mayor and representative of Italy's mayors, I would be proud to collaborate on the project and, with it, in spreading the culture of legality. I take this opportunity to reiterate my sincere respect."
Angelo Vassallo's innovative vision, from environmental protection to the defense of communities from the infiltration of corruption, was based on the key concept of ethics of public administrations. It is no coincidence that when a copy of the book 'The Denied Truth' arrived in the hands of Pope Francis, His Holiness sent a letter to his brother Dario, with a message of hope and encouragement to continue in the search for the truth.
“A voice that resounded in the silence that, unfortunately, has fallen on this story.” This is what Dario Vassallo, President of the Angelo Vassallo Foundation, said.
“Thanks to the Foundation dedicated to Angelo, in this film we want to retrace Angelo’s life, highlight his values and his idea of Politics, beautiful and clean. An independent production, not distorted, not romanticized, at times perhaps crude, but real, created through those who actually lived Angelo, by those who knew him. We have chosen to create a cinematic product that starts from the documents, from Angelo’s resolutions, from interviews with friends and colleagues of the Mayor-Fisherman, but also with magistrates, politicians and journalists, with archive material (news, clips from the news).
The result could be a cinematic crime, a thriller, a detective story. Certainly the truth and the brutality of Angelo's murder has far surpassed the imagination. Too many red herrings, too much silence. The film will unravel shadows that, for too long, have obscured reality and investigations".
