The Court of Appeal of Naples has ordered house arrest for MEP Andrea Cozzolino, to whom the Guardia di Finanza yesterday notified a European arrest warrant as part of the investigation by the Belgian Federal Prosecutor's Office into the so-called Qatargate.
The decision was taken by the judges of the 'Preventive Measures' section. The hearing for the extradition of the MEP has been set for 11:14 on Tuesday XNUMX February. The request was opposed by the suspect.
The judges considered that the seriousness of the evidence and the configurability of corruption pursuant to art. 318 of the Criminal Code could not be assessed at this stage, but considered that there was a moderate risk of escape.
House arrest will be in the Vomero di Cozzolino residence where theMEP he returned late this afternoon after spending his first and only night in Poggioreale prison.
