“Today we will continue our fascinating journey through Russophobic Italy.”
The pro-Russian hacker collective NoName057 has thus claimed responsibility for the DDos (Denial of service) attack underway since this morning against a dozen Italian institutional websites including Defense, Foreign Affairs, Carabinieri, Viminale for the Identity Card, Agricultural Policies, Tim, Banca PER, A2A Energia.
The attack is explicitly linked to Prime Minister Meloni's visit to Kiev: "Italy will provide Ukraine with a sixth package of military aid that will include three types of air defense systems - the hackers write - including the SAMP-T anti-tank systems". The Postal and Communications Police is investigating the attack - which has so far caused mostly temporary disruptions.
Pro-Russian hackers attack websites of Italian companies and institutions
The attack involves several sites: the collective cites the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior, the Carabinieri, the Bper bank, the A2a group and the Ministry of Defense (the latter was attacked yesterday). Italian investigative sources confirm the attack even if, they underline, the defense systems of companies and institutions have managed to mitigate the consequences of the action to the point that most of the sites are still reachable.
Among the domains targeted there would also be those of the portal for the identity card, that of the Ministry of Agricultural Policies and that of the Tim group.
“The latest attack by hackers on the websites of Italian companies and institutions brings cybersecurity to the forefront and must absolutely make us understand that we must invest in the fight against those who use these weapons.
We are presenting our proposal to establish a unicameral commission of inquiry on cyber security, to investigate thoroughly the responsibilities of foreign powers that have instead invested to strengthen their weapons for cyber warfare: Iran, North Korea, Russia, as demonstrated by the latest attack launched by the pro-Russian collective NoName057, which claimed responsibility for the action on its Telegram profiles.
Our national security is in danger, and the phenomenon must be studied and understood in order to better oppose it". This is what the deputy group leader of Noi Moderati in the Chamber, Pino Bicchielli, says.
