The Carabinieri, between San Leucio del Sannio and Fermignano (Pu), have executed a personal precautionary measure with the obligation to report to the judicial police issued by the investigating judge of Benevento Two individuals are being investigated for conspiracy to possess and carry an explosive device in public and for causing damage. The investigation began in January 2, when a homemade explosive device damaged a tobacco shop in San Leucio del Sannio.
The explosion, in addition to causing obvious damage to the tobacco shop, shattered several windows of nearby homes. The investigation began with eyewitness accounts and, at the time of the explosion, acquired video surveillance footage, which showed a young man and a car traveling at high speed through the streets adjacent to the tobacco shop. Special software was used to detect the last two characters of the license plate.
The car's owner was identified through databases and license plate recognition systems in the provinces of Benevento and Avellino. Based on statements from additional witnesses, observation and stakeout services, and the movements recorded by the GPS system installed on the identified car, the two suspects were identified. The motive is personal.
