The competition is online to create a monitoring system capable of identifying and monitoring any soil deformation processes and thus facilitating the maintenance of the national artistic and monumental heritage.
The tender, published by Invitalia on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, is divided into two lots and is worth a total of 971.000 euros.
It involves the most important national archaeological parks: the Colosseum archaeological park – indicated by the Ministry as the leader – Ostia Antica (Rome), Ercolano (Naples), Paestum (Salerno), Pompeii (Naples) and the Campi Flegrei (Naples). The deadline is set for 2 March 2023. Specifically: Lot 1 concerns the “Monitoring service” (671.000 euros) divided into two macro-activities: “Differential interferometric analysis monitoring (A-DInSAR)”, which allows the identification and characterization of the deformation processes undergone by the soil and structures, providing support for classification and change analyses in terms of erosion, clandestine and natural excavations, identification of illegal constructions and assessment of variations in the coastline; “Satellite Change Detection Monitoring”, which consists in the use of images acquired at different times by various platforms (satellite, aerial, terrestrial) to identify and classify elements (soil, structures, etc.) and analyse their qualitative and quantitative variations over time.
Lot 2 concerns the “Platform Rental Service” (300.000 euros) for the acquisition of a platform that allows for the archiving, management, analysis and distribution of data from satellite monitoring systems, adaptable to the specific needs of the monitoring systems in each archaeological park participating in the project.
