With the same consumption, according to the analysis * by Facile.it , families resident in Campania with a supply contract in the protected market spent 1.519 euros on their electricity bill alone in 2022 , that is, 108% more than in 2021, and 1.009 euros on gas (+ 57% ).

While the people of Campania are the luckiest in Italy when it comes to gas , having had the lowest bills overall, things are much worse when it comes to electricity , since last year they paid the third highest bill on the peninsula, preceded only by the inhabitants of Sardinia and Sicily.

The drop in the price of the raw material recorded at the beginning of 2023, however, could give us hope.

"With the new year, we've seen positive signs for both electricity and gas costs," explains Mario Rasimelli , Managing Director of Utilities at Facile.it . "However, we shouldn't let our guard down, and it's a good idea to continue monitoring our consumption and periodically check the offers available on the market to identify any potential savings."

The provincial trend of the electricity bill

Overall, between electricity and gas, in 2022, Campanians spent an average of €2.528 per family (compared to €1.371 in 2021), but in which provinces did the most spending occur?

Focusing solely on electricity and analyzing data on a provincial basis, Naples comes in first place, with average household consumption in 2022 amounting to 3.151 kWh, which, considering last year's protected tariffs, corresponds to a cost of €1.535 ; Caserta follows (€1.524, 3.127 kWh) and, very close behind, Benevento , a province where an average consumption budget of €1.521 was budgeted for an average consumption of 3.122 kWh.

Salerno (1.514 euros, 3.108 kWh) and Avellino close the ranking , the province which, in 2022, recorded the lowest consumption in the region (2.873 kWh) and therefore the “lightest” bill (1.400 euros).

Provincial gas bill trends

Gas bills also vary based on average consumption. The analysis shows that while residents of Avellino are the most fortunate when it comes to electricity, they fare much worse when it comes to gas, so much so that last year they paid the highest price: an average of €1.609 for a consumption of 1.258 cubic meters. The province of Benevento follows (€1.215, 950 cubic meters).

Caserta (955 euros, 747 smc) and, very close behind, Salerno (954 euros, 746 smc) are lower than the regional average . Naples closes the ranking, where "only" 927 euros (725 smc) have been budgeted for gas .
