“As Angelo Foundation Vassal we are completely against the project promoted by Anas for a fast road connection between the A2 motorway and the variant to the state road 18 in Agropoli. The aspect that leaves us most perplexed is the awareness that the work that is intended to be carried out is part of a naturalistic context of high value.
The project is presented as a real 30 km highway, with 2 lanes per running order, completely elevated, with four junctions, viaducts and tunnels that will fly over the greenhouses of the plain, the bed of the Sele river, the Persano district, alluvial lands, to then 'land' near the Archaeological Park of Paestum.
All this to build a route that is 70% duplicated compared to the current one, which will cost citizens a good 1,5 billion euros, more than 30 million euros per kilometer". This was denounced by Mayor Pescatore's brother, Dario Vassallo, President of the Vassallo Foundation.
"Just thinking about building this monster with millions of cubic meters of concrete confirms once again that this political class is eating up Cilento! Furthermore, if millions of euros are already available, it means that a "certain political class" had made agreements before the political elections of last September 25, and the pawns were all placed in the right place. Preventive agreements. So, in this territory, let's put an end to the theater for the primaries.
Have the trials for ghost roads already been forgotten? We absolutely must ensure a healthy relationship between urbanization and natural areas, also considering the rural vocation of the territory, with the risk of creating yet another unfinished project. The experience of the Fondo Valle Calore teaches us this. Let's avoid yet another waste of public money. For this reason - concludes Vassallo - as a Foundation we are alongside the Mayors who are against this work in the territory".
