A seventeen-year-old died late yesterday evening. The event occurred in San Cosmo Albanese, an Arbëreshë village in the Cosenza area.
A team of firefighters from the Corigliano-Rossano detachment, returning from another intervention, was stopped by some motorists along the provincial road 183 due to the presence of a body lying on the ground.
Emergency services were called immediately, but there was nothing more they could do for the boy. According to the Carabinieri's reconstruction, the boy was on a float pulled by a tractor, which, after a carnival parade in the hamlet of San Giacomo D'Acri, was on its way to San Cosmo Albanese for another parade.
Along the way, the boy, for reasons currently being investigated, hit his head when he fell from the vehicle. The tractor driver did not notice anything and continued on his way.

Carabinieri from the local station, coordinated by the San Marco Argentano company, responded to the scene and are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The Castrovillari Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy.
