They stole from travellers' suitcases at Capodichino airport: customs officers under house arrest Maurizio LaMarra e Claudio Lavino.
Interdictory measures instead against Carlo Feola, Pierluigi Gallo, Giosuè D'Orazio, Francesco Elpidio Sorrentino; Antonio Ambrosino, Giovanni Angelico, Alfonso Mattiello and also against the former commander of the Capodichino Finance Company, the officer Giorgio Lanni and his colleague Giulio Tortale, who allegedly failed to report the critical issues that emerged during the investigations into the work of some customs officers.
The news, anticipated this morning by the newspapers Il Mattino and the Neapolitan edition of Repubblica, starts from a complaint from a US citizen dated 2019.
Capodichino Customs Officers Arrested: Caught by Interceptions
The woman arrives at Capodichino with a friend and they are headed to Capri. She is stopped and taken to a private office by two customs officers, who ask for her passport. In the document holder there are 3000 dollars, along with the photo of the deceased mother of the American citizen. The money and the photo disappear. The documents also include environmental interceptions and telephone calls from which emerges the heavy accusatory framework that led to yesterday's measures.
The investigations were conducted by the prosecutors Antonello Ardituro (now deputy national anti-mafia prosecutor) and Immacolata Sica, in charge of the investigations which culminated in arrests and interdictory measures, signed by the investigating judge Luca Rossetti of the Court of Napoli. Embezzlement, abuse of office, extortion, theft are the accusations made against the customs officers; while some financiers (including the former director of the Capodichino sector) will have to defend themselves from the accusation of having helped the customs officers to divert the investigations.
