The 49th edition of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese kicks off tomorrow in Maiori, which will be held in the town on the Amalfi Coast until February 26, 2023. The program of the event, organized by the Municipality of Maiori with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture awarded to the Historical Carnivals of Italy, includes a wide range of events ranging from the concert of the former voice of Matia Bazar, Silvia Mezzanotte (February 17 at 20.30:25 pm at the marquee of the tourist port, with free admission upon mandatory reservation on eventbrite.it) to the theatrical comedy by Paolo Caiazzo “Terroni si nasce. The rich program prepared by the artistic director Alfonso Pastore, also includes a series of events for the little ones starting tomorrow, February 16, when the Musical Pinocchio will be performed in the entertainment hub set up at the tourist port. Among the events also the first Cosplay competition (February 18 with free registration) and the traditional event dedicated to Masks (February 20) with the participation of Stefano Mauriello "The bubble artist" fresh from his performance in prime time on Rai1 in the Amadeus program.
On February 25th, at the Mezzacapo Palace, “Se lo sai rispondi” returns, curated by the Papersera association, with copies of the famous comic that will be given to all participants. Then the Carnival Party (February 20th at 23 pm) reserved for all age groups and a disco music revival evening (February 24th) with Daniele Vitale on the sax. Among the new features are also the fireworks at sea scheduled for Sunday, February 19th during the first parade of allegorical floats and dance groups that will perform in the evening at the tourist port.
The Choco Italia in Tour will also be stopping in Maiori, bringing the best artisanal chocolate and the finest creations of master chocolatiers from all over Italy to the coastal town from 18 to 21 February.
The safeguarding of the oceans and the planet, in line with the 2030 UNESCO agenda for sustainable development, will be the theme of the 49th edition of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese, a great event capable of bringing together the art of papier-mâché, musical events and entertainment and which this year approaches the threshold of its fiftieth anniversary. There will be three parades of the five allegorical floats scheduled for the ten days of events prepared by the organizational machine: on the Sundays of February 19 and 26, a double outing is planned both in the morning (from 11.30 to 13) and in the afternoon (from 15.30 to 20) while on Shrove Tuesday (February 21) the party will take place from early afternoon until late evening.
Meanwhile, almost everything is ready for the 49th edition of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese. Starting with the allegorical floats that are being defined inside the sheds set up in the state property. Here the five papier-mâché works are taking shape, which this year are inspired by the defense of the environment on the occasion of the Decade of Marine Sciences.
“Nettuno si può salvare” by the Rio Association (a tribute to nature and the sea with the main mask representing Neptune); “L'isola che non c'è” by the ADS Association (the float will have as its main figure a giant panda, always a “testimonial” of the WWF campaigns, with its cub as a positive and optimistic symbol against the extinction of the species); “The master trash, starred chef in gourmet waste” by the “Gli Invisibili” Association (the allegorical float has as its protagonist The Master Trash, or the master garbage, a modern chef who uses the waste that today pollutes the waters of our seas as secret ingredients in his recipes); “Un futuro da salvare” by the “I Monelli” Association (the float will be a tribute to mother nature); “Non meraviglierti Alice” by the Diapason “I Nuovi Pazzi” Association (the float intends to represent humans and their relationship with the planet through the story of Alice in Wonderland) are the five gigantic animated constructions that will parade between via Nuova Chiunzi and the Maiori seafront on 19, 21 and 26 February.
Also for this edition of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese, the invitation is to wear the most beautiful smile and participate in the party with composure and a healthy desire for fun.
