They had accused each other of committing murder, then on appeal one of them confessed and both received a sentence reduction. This is the case of the murder of Anthony Amadi, a 30-year-old Nigerian immigrant killed in Castel Volturno in February 2020, for which they had been sentenced to 23 years in prison in the first instance by the Assize Court of the Tribunal of Santa Maria Capua Vetere Mohamed Saussi, a 39-year-old Tunisian, and Assan Maged Osseran, a 52-year-old from the Ivory Coast.
In the second instance, before the third section of the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Naples, Saussi (defended by Giuseppe Guadagno) confessed to having been the material author of the crime, and was given an 18-year sentence after recognizing the prevalence of mitigating circumstances, while the co-defendant (assisted by Paolo Di Furia) was sentenced to 16 years because he was recognized as having participated generically in the murder (the Attorney General's Office had requested 21 and 20 years for the two defendants).

Amadi's murder occurred on the night between February 26 and 27, 2020, when the 30-year-old was stabbed to death after a fight with both defendants, who had chased him in their car. Each had a motive: Soussi, a body shop mechanic, had seen the victim in a stolen car a few days earlier from his shop, while Osseran wanted to recover money he and some friends had given Amadi for a drug shipment he never received. For this reason, the two accused each other in the first instance, but the appeals court later changed their version, resulting in reduced sentences for both.
