This morning, the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Naples executed a precautionary custody order, issued by the GIP at the Court of Naples at the request of the local District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against 24 suspects, 9 of whom were already detained for another case.
All considered seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of mafia-type association, association for the purpose of drug trafficking (cocaine and hashish), violation of the regulations on weapons and explosives, extortion and use of money of illicit origin in economic activities.
In particular, the investigations, conducted from February 2018 to January 2020, allowed us to:
– demonstrate the continuing operation of the Mazzarella clan, directed by Mazzarella Ciro e From Friend Salvatore(the latter in order to the articulation of the aforementioned association operating in Naples, in the districts of San Giovanni a Teduccio and Ponticelli, as well as in the municipalities of San Giorgio a Cremano and Portici);
Document the armed opposition with the Silenzio Camorra group (the latter falling within the sphere of influence of the Secondigliano Alliance), always operating in the Neapolitan neighbourhood of San Giovanni a Teduccio, which includes, among other incidents, the throwing of Molotov cocktails at cars and motorcycles on 29 August 2018;
The Mazzarella clan's hands on hydrocarbons and contraband cigarettes
To detect the growing interest of the Mazzarella Clan in the sector of hydrocarbon trade and distribution, as demonstrated by the claims extortionate advanced against an entrepreneur in the sector, as well as the acquisition by an affiliate of a fuel distribution business in the Fuorigrotta area, near the Maradona stadium.
Highlight the control of the activities of marketing contraband tobacco, as well as the direct and indirect management by the association of the main drug dealing areas in the eastern area of Naples.
