Two arrests and 60 kg of cocaine seized.
This is the result of an operation by the finance police of the Provincial Command of Salerno who yesterday arrested two people in flagrante delicto, intent on recovering a large shipment of cocaine hidden in the refrigerated engine compartment of a cargo container, which had arrived at the commercial port of Salerno and had come from South America on board a motor vessel.
The investigations carried out by the Guardia di Finanza and the Office of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Salerno allowed them to identify the container on which, behind the apparent covering of exotic fruit, a large quantity of drugs was hidden.
Subsequent investigations, developed by the Economic and Financial Police Unit and the Salerno Group, through the use of a complex device to combat international drug trafficking, allowed the suspicious container to be constantly monitored and the two arrested individuals to be identified, simultaneously proceeding to the seizure of 60 kg of cocaine.
