It's “grateful and excited” di “this gigantic merit” the actor David Devenire, 50 years old – who became known to the general public with the role of Andrea Pergolesi in 'A place in the sun' and is the founder and president of the volunteer organization SpesaSuspesa.org – to which the President Mattarella awarded the title of Knight of the Order al Merito of Italian Republic.
Became Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic
An honor received “for having promoted social solidarity initiatives, also through his public image, with economic aid projects and availability of time in favor of people in difficult situations”.
“It's a gigantic emotion, I'm shaking, I have shivers. It came from the dark as the Americans say. I'm absolutely surprised, they announced it to me yesterday, anticipating it from the Quirinale Office and I thought it was the editorial staff of Scherzi a parte”, explains Deceased which is the companion of Serena Rossi with whom she had the little one Diego.
This is a merit, the actor underlines, "that I can't take alone. I have to share it with everyone on the team and beyond. We are six people but we have done a distribution activity throughout the country of over 105 million equivalent meals".
“There are many volunteer associations we work with, many companies, more than 400 of them have donated products made available on the platform and available to the associations. We have raised more than a million euros. My credit is a minimal percentage. It is not false modesty, but the real feeling I feel”, Devenuto emphasizes.
SpesaSospesa, Devenuto's volunteer organization
But how did the idea of Suspended Expense? “We were in lockdown, it was March 15, 2020 and on the phone with a friend of mine we said that we couldn't stay like this, standing still with our hands in our pockets while everything around us was worrying”.
“We tried to put together the pieces of this project by first involving our friends at Regusto who have the technological platform that makes this exchange of surplus products possible and then many partners, Mayor De Magistris who immediately gave us the patronage of the Municipality of Naples”.
“It was a further injection of confidence. Then we started collaborations with Perugia, Alessandria, Milan, Rome. It was one piece at a time, with many different skills”, he says.
“The margins for growth are enormous because creating value from a potential waste to help families in difficulty is a project that can never end and that can live even without donations with minimal economic effort because it creates value”, explains Devenuto who we saw in 'L'ispettore Coliandro', 'Ho sposano uno sbirro', 'Rex' and “Rocco Schiavone”, but at the moment he is not working as an actor. The last series was 'Mina Settembre'.
"I liked it because it was the opportunity to work with Serena who is my partner and so there is always a little more fun for that. It was a TV success, but I'm not really in love with my character because he is too good, polite, kind, I would like to play a few more asshole characters"He says.
“I have my own small production company with which I am carrying out projects, especially documentaries at the moment, and then I work with SpesaSospesa, I do my daily part and move forward”, says.
