It was the Carabinieri of the forestry group who found the lifeless body of the young specimen in Cusano Mutri, in the Ponte di Lavello area.
According to the initial analyses by the veterinarian who examined the body, the wolf was killed by several shots fired from a rifle-type shotgun, approximately four shots.
Checks are underway by the Istituto Zooprofilattico del Mezzogiorno, where the autopsy will be carried out by the coroner, who will establish the cause of death and carry out the characteristic assessment to confirm that it belongs to the canis lupus species.
