The author, Donata Magrini, is also the mother of Isabella, a little girl with Down syndrome. Donata has chosen to tell their story through a children's book that can reach everyone's heart by addressing issues such as illness and diversity in a playful and positive way. A fundraiser has been launched on Produzioni dal Basso to produce the book
Telling about diversity is not always easy, especially when you try to do it through a children's book. Yet, it is often the little ones who should be taken as an example: children are free from prejudice and more inclined to welcome the Other, regardless of their characteristics.
Starting from this principle, the Neapolitan Donata Magrini chose to tell her story and, above all, that of her daughter Isabella, a child with Down syndrome in the book “Il Mondocuore di Isadì – il fiore della felicità”. To create the book, Donata launched a fundraising campaign on Produzioni dal Basso, the first Italian crowdfunding and social innovation platform.
Specifically, the funds raised will be used to complete the illustrations, cover the costs of layout and printing of the first copies, and publicize the initiative.
I realized, to my regret, that the world is not yet fully prepared to welcome the disabled and that there is still a lack of knowledge. Awareness is still modest. There are so many realities and they are all different from each other. This book does not have the presumption of showing them all, but of presenting one, mine, ours, with the aim of opening the door of life a little more to those like my daughter who face a world still full of prejudices, and giving a little love to those who will read with an open heart - comments the author.
