On Monday 27 February at 18pm in the living room of the playwright Manlio Santanelli , in Naples, in the Vomero district (Via Sagrera, 23), the show Di Giacomo e le canzoni ritrovate will be performed, with Matteo Mauriello accompanied by Luigi Tirozzi , the prose texts are by Antonio Mocciola.
The show includes a series of songs, poems and compositions by Salvatore Di Giacomo, unknown to the general public, taken from a recovery project by Luigi Ottaiano, musician and teacher of Flute and Practice of Classical Neapolitan Song, at the Conservatory of Benevento. These rediscovered songs are proposed in a cheerful and light key, but philologically correct, according to the original scores of masters such as Costa, De Gregorio, De Leva, De Nardis, Di Capua, Valente.
The series of itinerant shows in private apartments, conceived by Manlio Santanelli and organized by Livia Coletta, continues successfully, now in its eleventh edition.
"With this show, which lends itself perfectly to a living room setting, without the fourth wall, " explains Mauriello, " I am bringing back to light in a 'musical theatrical' form that classic Neapolitan song, which is losing its transmittable nature and is easily confused with the post-war works of the composers. This project is also aimed at the new generations . "
The performance will be enriched by anecdotes, poems and autobiographical tales, linked to the life of the 'gentleman poet', by the story of meetings that gave life to the most beautiful pages of Neapolitan literature, by the partnership with the composers Costa and Valente, and by extracts of works written specifically for the theatre, such as Assunta Spina and 'O mese Mariano.
The aim is to give the public and especially the young people, melodies, atmospheres and sounds of the past, always current, which must not be put aside or forgotten, and which can be the object of study and further exploration.
