Cervantes Institute: María Gimeno and Javier Pérez Iglesias protagonists on February 16 and 17 of two events in Naples on the occasion of the exhibition “Impresión-Arte”
The Instituto Cervantes in Naples presents, as part of the exhibition project “Impresión-Arte” created in collaboration with the FOQUS Foundation and the support of AC/E (Acción Cultural Española), two events on February 16 and 17 dedicated to contemporary Spanish art and culture.
On Thursday, February 16 at 11:107 am, at the Teatro Niccolini – Accademia di Belle Arti (Via Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, XNUMX), “Queridas Viejas” by Spanish visual artist María Gimeno will be performed, with the special participation of Neapolitan artist Nera Prota. The two protagonists will give life to a bilingual performance that goes beyond mere translation and focuses on interpretation in both languages. The aim is to create an artistic journey through the history of art, considered a discipline that was formed with great gender disparities.
On Friday 17 February at 16 pm, at the Instituto Cervantes in Naples (Via Chiatamone 6 G), a conference by Javier Pérez Iglesias, coordinator of the Library of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, is scheduled.

“Impresión-Arte: print, unfold, sing” is an exhibition project curated by the Argentine artist and publisher Laura Lio, which promotes the international diffusion of Spanish culture through the works and editorial projects of artists and creatives who combine innovation, art and vindication. Exhibited in the spaces of the Portacarrese Contemporary Art Gallery of the Foqus Foundation (via Portacarrese a Montecalvario 69 – Naples), the exhibition can be visited free of charge from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 19 pm, until February 27, 2023.
María Gimeno Zamora 1970. Lives and works in Madrid. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. A multidisciplinary artist, she works with different media with the aim of being able to coherently express the concepts that interest her. Gimeno's work has redrawn the frontiers of techniques. She moves between installation, performance and video, and uses classical techniques, such as drawing, embroidery and sculpture. Her work is feminine and feminist, focused on the condition of women in the XNUMXst century and with the commitment to being an artist.
Javier Pérez Iglesias Born in Santander, Spain. Graduated in History and with a Master in Library Science. His professional activity is related to learning processes, the public use of information, the social task of reading, free access to knowledge, cultural rights and the publishing world. Currently he reads, writes, organizes workshops and coordinates activities in the Library of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid.
