Last night in Sant'Angelo d'Alife in the province of Caserta, the Carabinieri of the Operative and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Piedimonte Matese Company, together with those of the Ailano station They saved a mother and her two little children.
The military intervened, following a report from a neighbor, at a local apartment where one of the members of a Indian family he had asked for help due to an illness and had noticed that the other four people living with him were also apparently unconscious.
The Carabinieri, who arrived promptly on site, after having secured the apartment and turned off the stove in the main bedroom of the house, opened the windows and, together with the 118 service personnel, assisted the five people present in the house including two minors, one seven years old and his little brother of only two months, all taken ill due to lack of oxygen.
Poisoned mother and children are in hyperbaric chamber at Santobono
All the members of the family, not in danger of life, were transported for the necessary treatment to the hospitals of Piedimonte Matese, Salerno and to the Santobono pediatric hospital in Naples.
Two children, one just 2 months old and one 6 years old, and their mother, were assisted in the Hyperbaric Medicine Center of the Santobono hospital of Naples, directed by Dr Rosary Marco Infascelli, for serious carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke from using a grill in an unventilated area.
The three arrived during the night between Thursday and Friday from Hospital facility of Piedimonte Matese in red code and were immediately subjected to hyperbaric oxygen treatment at the end of which the levels of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood dropped, with a clear improvement in the vital functions of all organs, especially the brain.
At the moment, the three patients are in fair condition, however, as per protocol, they will undergo further treatment cycles in iperbaric room to avoid the so-called post-interval syndrome which can occur even a month after intoxication and which causes serious damage to brain tissue.
