Marco Mengoni triumphs at the 73rd edition of the Sanremo Festival with the song “Due vite”.

The artist from Ronciglione beat Lazza – who placed second – and Mr. Rain (third). “I dedicate this award to all the women who participated,” said Mengoni, visibly moved and emotional.

“I would like to dedicate this award to all the women who participated, who are wonderful singers. We reached the top five with five guys…” said the winner of the Festival. Mengoni thus collects his second victory at a Sanremo Festival. He had won in 2013 with “L'essenziale”.

 Marco Mengoni and the Festival of Records and Controversies

The artist from Ronciglione remained at the top of the charts for all the evenings, while yesterday he also won the evening of duets and covers. The 2023 Festival will be remembered for the record ratings (it hadn't happened since 1995) but also for the controversies.

First (in chronological order) the one related to Blanco who – due to an audio problem – devastated the floral decorations on the stage. Then for the performance of Fedez who, at the end of his performance on the Costa Crociere ship, tore up the photo of the vice-minister Galeazzo Bignami, dressed as Hitler.

The Fedez “case” returned also on the third night when – in a duet with Articolo 31 – he launched a jab at politics. “Giorgia, legalize it”, asking the prime minister to legalize cannabis. The final of the Festival was an evening full of emotions, with Depeche Mode as super guests, in addition to Gino Paoli and Ornella Vanoni.

The final – hosted by Amadeus quater accompanied by Gianni Morandi as entertainer – opened with the performance of the Italian National Anthem by the Air Force Band, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Then immediately the homage - moving and emotional - to Lucio Dalla. An interpretation greeted by a standing ovation. Then the competition begins. The evening begins with Elodie, who receives a "marriage proposal", from a fan who shouts: "Will you marry me?".

Tananai instead brought Ukraine to the Ariston stage before President Volodymyr Zelensky, arriving with blue and yellow flowers, colors that recall the Ukrainian flag. Madame instead thanked Amadeus for confirming her participation in Sanremo, after the controversy raised because she was investigated for the affair of fake green passes. "To go a hundred meters I had to go a thousand.

This was truly a beautiful Festival for me. I feel I have to thank Amadeus who believed in me,” she said. The one who caused a stir was Rosa Chemical who, during her performance, went to Fedez – sitting in the front row – miming a relationship with him and then dragging him on stage, finally kissing him on the mouth.

The show sparked Fiorello's irony: "After Rosa Chemical, Achille Lauro looked like Cristina D'Avena", joked the showman, referring to Lauro's performance (from Piazza Colombo) immediately after Rosa Chemical's.

“From tomorrow the top management of Rai will no longer be here. But all this is beautiful,” added Fiore. “This is the Festival of Love,” justified Rosa Chemical in front of an astonished Amadeus. Chiara Ferragni was equally astonished: “I am speechless,” “It's better,” concluded Amadeus smiling before launching the commercial.

During the commercial, some videos circulated on social media with Ferragni calling her husband on stage. A record edition closes, with 28 artists competing. Of these 6 young people. Amadeus managed to bring various expressions and musical genres to the Ariston stage. Addressing a transversal audience: from Generation Z to boomers.

He himself, who, at this Festival, tried to “sboomerize” himself, as Morandi said, by creating his first Instagram profile.

Here are other awards given at the 73rd edition of the SANREMO Festival:

Mia Martini Critics Award: Colapesce and Dimartino (with the song Splash);

Lucio Dalla Press Room Award: Colapesce and Dimartino;

Sergio Bardotti Award for best text: Coma Cose (The Farewell);

Giancarlo Bigazzi Award for Best Composition: Marco Mengoni (Two Lives).
