In the Sorrento Peninsula we mourn the death of Michele Lauro, the victim of the fatal accident that occurred this morning on the Sorrento state road which involved two cars that collided head-on on the San Marco viaduct.
Lauro, 61 years old, originally from Piano di Sorrento was driving one of the two cars involved and was traveling with a passenger, who was injured. The man was well known in the Campania maritime sector: in the past he had been a captain of ships and hydrofoils for the companies Free Navigation of the Gulf e SNAV.
For some years he had been the general manager of the Laziomar, the shipping company that manages maritime connections between the mainland and the Pontine Islands, of which he was also responsible for the fleet.

To know the exact dynamics of theaccident we will have to wait for the conclusions of the police forces that intervened, who also listened to the testimonies of some motorists who were travelling along that stretch of road.
The driver of the car that collided head-on with the car Commander Lauror was interviewed by the police and subjected to all the necessary tests to establish whether he was fit to drive. His position will be assessed by the magistrate of the Procuratorate of Torre Annunziata who is in charge of the investigation.
