The unsuspecting tourist is walking around Piazza Municipio, in Naples, intent on observing the city when a man, supported by a second person, both well infiltrated among the visitors thanks to their outfit, approaches him from behind and steals his wallet.
The suspect appears to be a frequent pickpocket who hangs around those areas, according to a witness who documented the theft and reported it to Green-Left alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
“I was in Piazza Municipio and witnessed two tourists having their wallets stolen. These two thieves are men who keep things going from morning till night. They're always there on the corner where the hot dog stand is ,” the witness recounted.
"We've reported the matter to law enforcement, requesting that the two be identified and arrested. Naples is experiencing a historic moment with this unprecedented surge in tourism, and we can't allow criminals to ruin everything, nor can we tolerate citizens being subjected to thefts and robberies on a daily basis," Borrelli said.
